Sharing Different Perspectives of Sustainable Farming

SFA Lake Agassiz Chapter is hosting a farmer networking event, 'Sharing Different Perspectives of Sustainable Farming,' from noon-2 p.m. Sat., April 28, at the Pelican Rapids Library, 25 W Mill Ave, Pelican Rapids. This event is free and open to all; no RSVP is required. Speakers include:

  • Abdulahi Hashi, an agriculture graduate student at NDSU who will talk about the differences between African and American agriculture and his experience growing up in a nomadic family in Somalia.
  • Ryan Pesch, a U. of M. Extension educator and farmer at the certified organic Lida Farm, will speak about soil health with an emphasis on composting.
  • Zachary Paige, Food Sovereignty Coordinator at White Earth Nation, will speak about seed-saving techniques, organic plant breeding and his experience working with tribal communities in the Upper Midwest.
