Soil Health Cafe Chat: Hastings

03/29/2018 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM CT

Description

This spring, SFA is hosting an exciting series of Soil Health Cafe Chats at various locations around Minnesota. These free events will feature area farmers who are practicing soil health principles like cover crops, more diverse species, reduction in soil disturbance and adding livestock.

During each Cafe Chat, the featured producers will share their soil health experience, followed by open questions and discussion. In most cases, local Soil and Water Conservation District employees will be on hand to share information about the programs offered in the area.

The Hastings Cafe Chat is 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, March 29, at the American Legion, 50 Sibley St, Hastings.

Speakers at this Cafe Chat include Angela Defenbaugh, Washington County SWCD; Jake Voit, Minnesota Food Association Soil Health Caretaker; and farmers Tim Behrends and Gene Smallidge.

The Cafe Chats are intentionally informal to encourage discussion and participation, and we welcome all farmers to attend. Each chat begins at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and rolls, with the program to follow from 10 a.m. to noon. No RSVP is necessary.
