Forage Council Cover Crops Discussion at CLC Field Day

The Crow Wing River Basin Forage Council, a SFA Networking Group, is hosting a presentation as part of the annual Central Lakes College Field Day on Aug. 21 at CLC Ag and Energy Center, 26505 County Rd 2, Staples.

From noon to 1 p.m., the Forage Council will lead a “Utilizing Cover Crops for Grazing” discussion at the CLC cover crop plot. View cover crop varieties, discuss grazing options and learn opportunities to integrate livestock and cover crops into a cropping system. The cool- and warm-season grazing mixes were developed by Jeff Duchene, NRCS Grazing Specialist.

The overall field day, which is free and open to all, is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and includes a cover crop variety trial, specialty crop and industrial hemp demonstrations, kids activities and more. No RSVP is required. The event will follow MDH guidelines for outdoor events including social distancing.
