Deep Winter Greenhouse Short Course Added for Jan. 13

SFA’s Deep Roots Farmer Development Program will host another version of its popular short course, Deep Winter Production of Greens and Livestock Fodder Using Passive Solar Energy, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Jan. 13, 2018, at Paradox Farm, 11643 State Hwy 78, Ashby. 

During the class, Paradox Farm owners Sue Wika and Tom Prieve will provide a detailed overview of the construction and operation of their deep-winter greenhouse, which utilizes passive solar energy with underground heat storage. Further, SFA Executive Director Theresa Keaveny will discuss financing options for prospective DWG producers.

Cost is just $20 for current SFA members and $40 for nonmembers. Paradox Farm is 7 miles north of Ashby and 10 miles south of Battle Lake; snow date is Jan. 14.

This course is limited to 10 registrants; registration is nonrefundable.
