09/14/2019

Description

The 2019 Minnesota Salsa Festival will close down and stake claim to Aldrich Ave located next to Wadena’s Burlington Northern Park for a full-on community celebration that will run from 11 am to 8 pm.

Attendees of all ages from the region and beyond will enjoy free access to a variety of live music options throughout the day ranging from an eclectic mix of local original music to a professional Mariachi band, Klezmer music, talent show and Afro-Cuban based music heating things up into the evening, before a fire-dancing troupe closes out the day.

The famed Minnesota Salsa Contest will take place with a peoples choice award in addition to a celebrity cast of community judges deciding which winner will be eligible to move on to the national salsa contest.

Paid salsa dance classes will be offered in the Historic Wadena Train Depot, intermixed with a full day of regenerative agriculture classes. Regional farmers, including many SFA members, will have a chance to network while selling their season’s bounty alongside other community and artisan vendors. Numerous for sale food options will be available at the Salsa Festival such as salsa flavored ice cream developed by the University of Minnesota, in addition to a variety of beverages including Wadena’s new downtown brewery.
